Francis Lemarque is a French singer-songwriter and poet, born in Paris on November 25, 1917. During a career crowned by several Grand Academy’s Charles Cros Prix du Disque, he wrote and composed almost 400 songs, including A Paris, becoming an international standard. In 1940, he was mobilized and assigned as “Lieutenant guitarist”, he went to the free zone and settled in Marseille. There he met Jacques Canetti, they will meet again in 1948 at the beginning of the Trois Baudet. Francis Lemarque lived one of the richest french sing-writer career. Sung by Yves Montand among others, many of his songs belong to the collective memory of the French culture. Deeply attached to the popular Paris and the French song, he died in 2002 at his home in La Varenne-Saint-Hilaire.
